Volunteer
Contributions of our volunteer work team are invaluable to the success of The Samaritan Inn.  Our volunteers are an integral part of the work team and perform a wide range of diverse services.  The list below is representative  of the many ways in which you can volunteer but should not be considered    exclusive.

Computer Mentor

We have a six station computer lab that cannot be opened unless we have a volunteer willing to monitor the appropriate and correct use of the computers.

Maintenance Assistant
Assist our facilities team with maintenance projects. The projects are endless.



Special Events Program

The Samaritan Inn has several scheduled special events to help raise funds and awareness. Volunteers are needed on planning committees, specific assignments and working the day of the event to ensure success.


Donations Program


Administrative Staff Support
Assist staff with administrative tasks and projects.

Childcare Workers
Monday through Thursday 7:00pm to 9:00pm, supervise children while their parents attend counseling and life skills classes.

Help coordinate an off campus donation or collections drive.  Paper goods, household cleaners, non-perishable & perishable food items, over the counter medications, hygiene products are but a few of the regularly needed items we need day to day.  You can serve as a one time donor or a point of contact for an organization willing to receive your monthly needs list.

Friends of the Inn Thrift Center

Volunteer staff are needed from 9:15am to 4:00pm Tuesday through Saturday.  Volunteers are needed to sort, organize, price and provide customer service in our retail, resale store.  This is ideal for small groups who want to serve together. 

Children's Program
Want to brighten a child’s life?  Schedule a special children’s activity.  Example:  Game Day, Arts and Crafts classes, etc.
Volunteer Process

If you are interested in volunteering at The Samaritan Inn, please contact Cheryl Spofford at cherylspofford@thesamaritaninn.org or (972) 542-5302, ext 228.  You will be invited to attend an informational session at the Inn where you will learn more about the opportunities available.  These sessions are scheduled three times and month; dates and times will vary. 

There are endless random projects that do not fit into any category so please feel free to attend any of these sessions.
