Emergency Shelter                 Case Management                  Samaritan Inn-dustries

The Samaritan Inn is more than just a place to spend the night. It is a holistic program that teaches self-sufficiency and life skills. To assist the needs of individuals and families before, during, and after a homeless situation, the Samaritan Inn provides interactive, in-house programs for its residents. Those with special needs are referred to additional programs and resources available within the community to help during their crisis.  Action plans are put in place for each resident and are reviewed after the first 3 days and thereafter on a weekly basis.  The length of stay depends on the person's willingness and success in meeting their goals. The average length of stay for this program is 30-45 days.

Emergency Shelter

Emergency shelter is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Residents have a safe, clean place to stay that includes three meals a day, fresh clothing, and shower and laundry facilities. There are separate dormitory style living areas for men and women, and private living areas for parents with small children. Security and supervision is provided by the Inn staff.

Case  Management

Case Managers maintain professional relationships with other support agencies within the community.  Case Managers  are on staff to help develop and implement individual action plans that  allow participants to establish a source of income and secure housing.  They assist residents in finding appropriate financial or legal counseling, provide mental and medical health referrals, and encourage participation in support groups, parenting classes , workshops, and rehabilitation programs.

New intakes may come in to meet with a case worker any time between 11am and 2pm Monday through Friday.

"Greater Goodies"
chocolate truffles are produced by Samaritan Inn-dustries by residents at the Samaritan Inn and are sold at a variety of local venues.  Residents learn job skills as they participate in production, inventory, bookkeeping, customer service and sales.

This program received the "Outstanding New Project" award  at the 2006 Texas Homeless Network state convention in Houston, TX.
