The Basics

The Samaritan Inn provides a no-cost, safe and clean place to live. Living areas for men, women and families are separate. We have a dining room, playroom, computer lab, classrooms, a chapel, a fully-equipped playground, and a kennel for our resident’s pets!

Beyond Shelter

We serve 3 well balanced meals daily, provide personal hygiene products, free laundry, haircuts, over the counter medicines, and vouchers for needed items and services. Day care and transportation vouchers are also available. Residents attend a variety of classes and meet one-on-one with their professional caseworker to develop an individualized action plan and goals for their success.

Next Steps

Residents who gain full-time employment, complete Financial Peace University, and achieve their savings goal can apply for our Gateway transitional housing program, which supplies a fully-furnished apartment with a stair-step rent to help readjust to market rates and independent living responsibilities.

We conduct intake interviews seven days a week from 11 – 2 pm. Please come see us.

We do not have a homeless prevention program, but the cities of Plano, Frisco, Allen, and McKinney each have funds to assist. To contact the agency that is currently administering those funds, please contact The Assistance Center for a referral. Their phone number is (972) 422-1125.

We can provide you with a box of food and a listing of food pantries for ongoing needs.

It’s hot outside

When the North Texas weather turns severe (above 100 degrees), we offer limited emergency overnight sheltering. Please come to the shelter, located at 1710 N. McDonald Street, for food, bathroom facilities, and a safe place to sleep.

Resident Requirements

Have you read the overview of our program? Learn more about it here. If your goal is to become independent and you’re ready, willing and able to work, you may be a good candidate for our program.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Have a photo ID
  • Submit to a drug test
  • Submit to a background check

To apply, please come to The Samaritan Inn to meet with a case worker for an intake interview. Intake Interviews are held every day, 7 days a week, from 11 am – 2 pm. The waiting room is available starting at 10 am. For more information, please call 972.542.5302.
