Austin H. Urbine, 14, of Frisco has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest advancement rank in Boy Scouting.
Urbine, a member of Troop 142 and the son of Bret and April Urbine, is a freshman at Liberty High School.
For his Eagle Service project, Austin Urbine raised more than $1,200 for The Samaritan Inn family homeless shelter in Collin County by operating a concession stand at Pack No. 142 Cub Scout Pinewood Derby and collecting individual donations from businesses, neighbors and relatives contacted through phone calls and letters. The money sent one child to summer camp and provided breakfast and lunch for about 75 residents plus such urgent need items as hand sanitizer, diapers, sippy cups, shampoo, soap, toilet paper, five new high chairs for the increase in toddler residents.
Austin Urbine enjoys sports and recently qualified for the Varsity Swim Team at LHS. He is a member of the Young Men’s Service League’s Frisco Chapter and enjoys volunteering at such organizations as Frisco Family Services and Austin Street Homeless Shelter.
