Why Volunteer?
Samaritan Inn Volunteer

Contributions from our volunteer work team are invaluable to the success of The Samaritan Inn. Our volunteers are an integral part of the work team and perform a wide range of diverse services. 

Volunteer Process

If you are interested in volunteering at The Samaritan Inn please call or text the

You will be invited to attend an informational session at the Inn where you will learn more about the opportunities available.  Included in the session is a tour of the Inn and an explanation of our services and needs. Volunteer Information Meetings are held in The Samaritan Inn board room.  Upcoming Volunteer Information Meetings:

• Saturday, September 13 at 10:30am - FULL
• Thursday, September 18 at 10:30am - FULL
• Thursday, September 25 at 7:00pm - FULL

• Saturday, October 4 at 10:30am
• Thursday, October 9 at 7:00pm
• Thursday, October 23 at 10:30am

Upon completion of an Information Meeting, you are given an opportunity to complete the volunteer application and receive in interview to discuss your assignment request. A background check will be completed prior to your acceptance.

How Can You Help?

There are many ways you can volunteer your time to assist with the programs and operation of the Inn.  Some of the ways you can help, although not an all inclusive list, listed below.

Donations Program
Help coordinate an off campus donation or collections drive.  Paper goods, household cleaners, non-perishable & perishable food items, over the counter medications, hygiene products are but a few of the day to day items we regularly need.  You can serve as a one-time donor or a point of contact for an organization willing to receive your monthly needs list.

Administrative Staff Support
Assist staff with administrative tasks and projects.  Current needs are for Front Office Hosts/Hostesses for 2-4 hour shifts, 7 days a week between the hours of 9am to 9pm

Childcare Workers
Monday through Thursday 7:00pm to 9:00pm, supervise children while their parents attend counseling and life skills classes.

INN Style Resale Store
Volunteer staff are needed from 9:15am to 4:00pm Tuesday through Saturday.  Volunteers are needed to sort, organize, price and provide customer service in our retail/resale store.  This is ideal for small groups who want to serve together.  Court Ordered service hours can be served at the Thrift Stores if shifts are available.

More Opportunities To Help The Samaritan Inn

Computer Monitor
Our Computer Lab provides computer resources for residents of The Samaritan Inn. Residents can prepare resumes, search jobs online, and hone computer skills needed for employment.  Volunteers are needed to work four-hour shifts to answer residents’ basic questions on Microsoft Word, printing documents, etc.

Maintenance Assistance
Our Facilities Department includes Maintenance and Food Services and is maintained by two people. So, you can guess how backed up 'odd jobs' can get.  From fixing plugged sinks to hanging closet rods, our Facilities Department is definately kept on its toes. We also maintain our Gateway Apartments.

Are you a handyman with some regular free time? We've got shelves to hang and landscaping to do and we'd love to share our odd jobs with you!

Special Event Program
One of our sources of support for our program is through fundraisers. We have several each year that are handled specifically by the Inn and several that are run by 'third parties'.

If you have a group, club or organization that is interested in supporting the Inn as a whole, why not volunteer to put together an event?

Volunteers play a huge part in the success of our fundraisers.  If you have a talent for numbers or marketing or solicitations or just like to meet and visit with new people-your are perfect for the job! Volunteers are needed on planning committees, specific assignments and working the day of the events to ensure their success
